We’re back from out week at the lake!
We spent a week up at Wellman lake up in the beautiful Duck Mountain Provincial Park, just north of here. We love the campground there, beautiful sites with tall spruce & an amazing beach with soft sand & a clean clear lake. The beach has good tree’s along the south so we can get some really good shade for those who need to get a break from the sun. We love that the dock is right on the beach too, which the kids spent a good amount of time on checking out fish, catching minnows, leaches and jumping in! So good to get away and just have some serious down time, unplug & refresh!
We had a somewhat exciting start to the week with waking up with a bear inches from our tent on the first morning, this of course was the very first time we had the girls sleeping in their own tent 5 feet away from us!! We woke up to hear someone walking around and stop inches away from our tent door. At this point I thought it was the girls and was waiting for them to unzip. The footsteps continued around the tent, I told my hubby I think it’s an animal, he was already looking out and just said ‘yup’ he whistled and it kinda growled at us. Um, I think it’s a bear! I looked out the little screen window by our heads and there he was about 5 feet away from us, he had climbed the tree – luckily back down he came and ventured off peacefully. Five am though and this mama’s heart wasn’t about to stop racing. We grabbed the girls and went for a drive, making sure other campers were safe – which of course they were, they were all in campers!!!! They ended up catching that bear about an hour and half after he visited us and relocated him somewhere else in the park!
Monday night a big storm rolled in – we put the girls in my brother’s camper with their kids and we braved the tent again. I have never heard thunder like that before, it went literally all night long with the rain driving hard. Our tent held up and no water came through the top, however we have these luggage compartments that stick out the back and we think water got in there. Everything we had on the floor was wet, clothing, suitcases, some of the bedding was touching the floor – all soaked. So we packed up the wet in garbage bags and drove home (about an hour and a half) we washed everything (even my feather duvet which I was kinda nervous about – but a cold water wash with Norwex laundry soap & a low temp dry, all good!). We stayed home and slept in our own beds and went back for breakfast with my brother & his wife first thing in the am. The rest of the week was pretty mellow, great beach days, girls got some serious bonding time with the cousins & some late night camp fires!
So we’re home again and the list of things to do is never ending. The garden is backed up with weeds, laundry is over spilling from the laundry room & fields need to be sprayed! We’re getting it all done but the girls and I need to take some time to take care of us. Our feet are looking and feeling a little rough from living in flip flops all week, gravel and beach sand have left us a little worse for wear!
Footloose and Fancy Free
We are filling up the bathtub and adding a little bit of my favorite foot soak – Footloose & Fancy Free! This is what they use in the Tiber River Natural Spa’s in Winnipeg, MB. This wonderful creation is made with baking soda, cornstarch and a special blend of essential oils. It softens the skin getting our feet ready for the amazing Footloose and Fancy Free Scrub! This scrub is made from sea salt, ground pumice & essential oils to scrub away all dead skin cells – leaving your feet feeling silky soft. We finish up with the Footloose and Fancy Free Lotion made with a blend of different nourishing oils! I like to keep up my little foot pampering session with the Footloose and Fancy Free Repair Bar – I will use this daily to keep my feet soft. It also helps to repair dry, cracked skin. One of the best part of this Footloose and Fancy Free Line is that they are all made with a blend of special essential oils to help combat foot odor!! Love the spray that comes in this line as well, you can use it to refresh your tired, sore feet or you can spray it right in your shoes as well!!
