Dance season prep! It’s that time of year again, dance competitions are coming up! We’re in Brandon this weekend and headed to Yorkton beginning of May, we also have our year end concert thrown in there too! The kids have worked their butts off all year for these events and it definitely shows. So excited to make these trips with the girls!!
Excited as I am there there is a bit here to get ready to go . . . costumes need to be double checked, making sure everything is bagged up and ready to go. They need to be cleaned as well – our dance club owns the costumes and we just use them. Taking a look at the ones we got this year I’m not sure when they were cleaned last, or are kids just that messy & sweaty?! I only have three to wash. I have tested out Tiber River Naturals brand new Out Darn Spot laundry stain bar and honestly, kinda loving the results!
How to use :
Out Darn Spot comes in a bar form (just like our bar soaps!) I used it a couple of different ways. First, I wet it under the tap then rubbed on the stain directly. Then, I also used one of my fave tricks – I grabbed my veggie peeler and took off a few curls, threw them into an extra spray bottle I had laying around and filled it up with warm water, gently shook and I now have a spray form of this magic little bar! This helps me out so much as my laundry room is in my unfinished basement. I have plumbing for a sink down there but no actual sink yet and my washer doesn’t fill up till lid is closed and locked so I essentially have no water access down there. This saves me running back and forth up the stairs!
There is hair to do – how is it that I cannot make a french braid look pretty? Over the years I have had friends tackle this job for me, I’ve paid hairdressers to do it & I’ve sucked it up and just done it myself (thankfully there is usually a headpiece and the braids aren’t too noticeable). I’ve even watched youtube videos and it doesn’t help. The girls have thin fine hair like me, although my oldest has slightly thicker. They get so knotted up and tangled it’s crazy. I could not live without a good conditioner and spray in conditioner. However, I actually just ran out the other day so I rinsed out my old bottle, put a few pumps of the girls favorite conditioner – Tiber River Naturals Grape Ape and filled up with warm water. Gave it a gentle shake and this is what we’ve been using the past few days and it’s working great! This will definitely be making the trip with us!
I found our makeup bag, these little dancers done blue eye shadow, black & white eyeliner and red lips! I swatched them all to make sure they were still good and used Tiber River Naturals Lid Loot to remove after they dried. I love this stuff – it is an amazingly gentle makeup remover that is oil free! A little bit on a cotton pad and I was able to wipe off all the swatches – even the waterproof eyeliner! Super important that it comes off easily – these girls would not be impressed if I had to rub their eyes to get their makeup off!
Oh, you know what else we take with us . . . Footloose & Fancy Free Foot Spray! It’s a lifesaver to spray the dance slippers and little feet when they come off stage! The special combo of essential oils in this spray works well to combat any foot odor and leaves them feeling refreshed & super soft!
Do you have spring events coming up for your kids? Maybe some of these items can help you get ready too and if you’re in Brandon or Yorkton come and say hi to me!
