Hands up all my candle lovers! I have used candles since forever, went through the stages of the tealights and voltives, the pillars, the 3 wick, the melts . . .you name it I probably used it. So let’s talk about why I love our Tiber River Candles.
100% Soy Wax
Why does this matter? Well, a lot of the candles that we burn are made from petroleum bi-products where as soy wax candles are made from soy beans, which are a renewable resource. Soy wax is biodegradable and just plain environmentally-friendly! Did you know that we actually grown soy beans here on our farm? How crazy is that? Soy wax is all natural, clean burning wax that doesn’t throw carcinogens into the air you are breathing in your home and less likely to trigger allergies.
Soy wax burns at a much lower temperature then regular paraffin wax making it a much safer option for both the little people and the pets in your home. Also, seeing as how it is a natural substance if your little fur baby does happen to have a little snacky snacky on that candle they won’t be harmed.
Seeing as how they burn at a lower temperature that also means you’re going to get more bang for your buck. They burn slower, about and hour per ounce of wax. Tiber River candles are 14 oz so that’s roughly about 14 hours of burn time.
Soy wax is also water soluble, so any spills can be cleaned up easily.
Timberflame Wooden Wicks
Besides the obvious cool factor of these, lets talk about practicality. Did you know that a lot of wicks have lead in them? No thanks. If you have the option always look for either 100% cotton wicks or wooden wicks. Our wooden wicks are made with natural, untreated wood.

Recycle. Reuse.
Did you know, the glass container your candle comes in is a whiskey glass? Save that glass from the recycle bin! You can easily upcycle your empty glass once your candle is done. If you freeze the candle when it’s done the remaining wax will pop or chip out easily. Let it warm back up to room temp and then easily wash any waxy residue off with soap and water. The labels peel off clean most of the time but if they do leave some residue behind you can soak in soapy water and scrub off with your kitchen scrubby or use an essential oil to soften and then scrape off as easily as you would with rubbing alcohol.
You will have a nice bar set in no time. If you are a candle fanatic, you will soon have a few sets. They make an awesome hostess gift, with a nice bottle. Now that’s Up-Up Cycling.
So have I convinced you to at least try one of our fabulous soy candles? As much as I love using my essential oils there is just something about lighting a candle and keeping it cozy. Keeping it local these are hand poured by the amazing Soy Harvest Candles out of Winnipeg, MB. So take a peak at our collection, follow these little tips and be prepared to fall in love!

I’ve bought 4-5 Tiber River candles over the last few years and the last few haven’t stayed burning. They just kept going out. The wick/ wood piece won’t stay lit. I’ve talked with a few girls and they’re having the same issue.
I’ve tried different scents but they all do the same thing.. obviously a “wick” issue? I love the crackling sounds so I do hope you can make it work in the future!

Oh no! I find the best way to get them to light really well is to take your lighter and melt the wax within about an inch of the wick. Then when lighting the wick, I hold the flame over it for a few seconds to make sure the wax at the base of the wick is melted really well as well. I find that as long as I melt the wax first, the candles light perfectly each time and do not go out at all. If you are still having problems though they can def be exchanged or refunded!
